Vilynx

Vilynx was a Barcelona-founded AI company whose self-learning multimodal technology analysed a video's visual, audio and text signals to auto-generate tags, summaries and a knowledge graph, making video content searchable and easier to monetise for media publishers. It raised roughly $8-10M across a 2015 seed and a 2017 Series A co-led by Kibo Ventures and Caixa Capital Risc, with customers among large broadcasters and publishers. Vilynx no longer exists as an independent company: Apple acquired it in October 2020 for a reported ~$50M, its first acquisition in Spain, and the Barcelona office became an Apple AI/ML R&D centre. The team was based in Barcelona and Palo Alto.
