Onyx Solar designs and manufactures transparent photovoltaic glass for building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV), turning facades, skylights, canopies and curtain walls into electricity-generating surfaces that also provide thermal/acoustic insulation and UV/IR filtering. Founded in 2009 in Ávila, Spain, it operates its own PV glass factory in Vicolozano (Ávila) plus a US office, and claims 500+ projects across ~60 countries, with R&D collaborations with MIT, UPM and the University of Barcelona. It is a revenue-generating manufacturer financed largely through grants, soft loans and regional/family funds rather than a conventional VC round ladder.
