Smart Encoder Systems (SES) is a business division and product line launched in 2025 by Fagor Automation S. Coop., a Basque worker cooperative and member of the MONDRAGON Corporation, headquartered in Arrasate-Mondragón (Gipuzkoa). SES makes high-precision exposed and enclosed linear and angular encoders (absolute and incremental, down to nanometre-class resolution) for machines requiring extreme accuracy at high travel speeds, targeting semiconductor manufacturing and AOI equipment, metrology and measuring machines, and large scientific facilities. Fagor Automation is a cooperative founded in 1981 with ~30 patents, a presence in more than 50 countries and no external shareholders.
