TThe Colvin Co
The Colvin Co (Colvin) is a Barcelona-based direct-to-consumer e-commerce company for fresh flowers and plants, sourcing directly from growers to cut out traditional wholesale intermediaries and deliver longer-lasting bouquets at lower prices. Founded in 2016 by three ESADE classmates, it raised roughly €80-88M across eight rounds, peaking with a €45M Series C led by Eurazeo in 2021, followed by a €6M internal down round in 2023 at a ~50% lower valuation. The company then entered Spanish insolvency proceedings (concurso de acreedores), cut about half its staff, closed its Italy, Germany and France operations, and was taken over in 2024-2025 by creditor and venture-debt investor Claret Capital under a 'New Colvin' turnaround plan focused on B2C in Spain and Portugal with a team of under 20 people. The founders stepped back from executive roles in 2023 and have since started other companies.
