RReinosa Forgings & Castings
Reinosa Forgings & Castings is a heavy-industry steelmaker in Reinosa (Cantabria, Spain) that manufactures large forged and cast steel components — ingots, forged blocks and bars, cylinders, crankshafts, turbine and generator shafts, marine brackets — with castings up to 165 tonnes and forgings up to 70 tonnes, exported to more than 50 countries for shipbuilding, mining, cement, heavy machinery, power generation, oil & gas and defence. It is not a startup: the plant dates to 1918 as 'La Naval' de Reinosa, later Forjas y Aceros de Reinosa and part of Sidenor; in November 2019 Sidenor sold 75% to the German-American industrial consortium NFL (Benedikt Niemeyer and Bruce Liimatainen), and it was relaunched under the current name in June 2021, with the Government of Cantabria and the Spanish state (SEPI) also having taken stakes/rescue financing (~€27M in 2021). It employs roughly 500-525 people and is led by co-CEOs Borja Lambea (commercial) and Miguel Ángel Díez (industrial); there are no founders in the startup sense and no venture capital backing.
