Universitas is a family-owned Catalan contract-catering and restaurant group based in Barcelona that manages cafés, restaurants, catering/events and vending services, with a stated focus on modern healthy Mediterranean food. It began in 2003 by taking over the café-restaurant of the University of Barcelona's Business Faculty and now runs roughly 21 cafés and restaurants across the Universitat de Barcelona (UB), Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), operating three central kitchens from offices at C/ Loreto 13-15, 08029 Barcelona. It is a conventional food-service SME rather than a venture-backed startup.
