Biomaslinic
A University of Granada spin-off (founded 2006 in Escúzar, Granada) that developed patented technology to extract high-value bioactive compounds — chiefly maslinic acid and hydroxytyrosol — from olive-oil-industry by-products for use in biomedicine, animal nutrition and human nutraceuticals. The company received early venture/public capital (~€10M invested, mostly in R&D) but was declared in voluntary bankruptcy (concurso voluntario de acreedores) in March 2017.
