VVoptica
Voptica is a Spanish medical device company founded in 2010 as a spin-off of the Laboratorio de Óptica of the University of Murcia (LOUM), a leading group in visual, adaptive and biomedical optics. It develops the VAO® adaptive-optics visual simulator, which lets clinicians have patients experience advanced optical corrections before surgery, and the ArtIOL® platform of inverted-meniscus extended-depth-of-focus intraocular lenses designed to improve peripheral vision quality. The company is CE-marked (2016), has run clinical studies with 2,000+ patients, is backed largely by public/grant funding (Horizon 2020, CDTI, ENISA, FEDER) plus university tech-transfer VC, and is small (~15 employees), based in Espinardo, Murcia.
