Barcelona Activa
Barcelona Activa is the local economic development agency of Barcelona City Council, based in Barcelona. It supports entrepreneurs and start-ups from the idea stage to consolidation through pre-incubation, pre-acceleration and deep-tech programmes such as BDEEPTECH and Startup Lab, along with incubation space at the MediaTIC Incubator, mentoring and access to finance. It also runs the city's municipal investment funds, which invest in venture capital funds rather than directly in companies: Barcelona Accelera (2020, €30M), the Barcelona Deep Tech Fund (2023, €10M) and the €30M Barcelona Investment Fund, which targets strategic sectors including the care economy and impact investing. The 47 companies in its Startup Lab have raised about €75M in total.
