upRing
upRing was a Spanish consumer mobile app (iOS and Android) for managing a private, always up-to-date address book: users could exchange verified contact cards device-to-device, set expiring temporary contacts, tag and group contacts, clean duplicates and back up to their own iCloud/Google Drive, with a privacy-by-design model that avoided storing user data centrally. It was headquartered in Madrid, founded around 2019, and backed by Abac Nest (formerly Lion Nest), the venture arm of Barcelona private equity firm Abac Capital; its founders were described as coming from the senior team at Apax Partners. The company is now defunct.
