Wiris (legally Maths for More, S.L.U.) is a Barcelona-based STEM education technology company founded in 1999 out of a Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) research project, building tools for writing, displaying and auto-grading mathematical and scientific notation — including MathType, WirisQuizzes, CalcMe and Learning Lemur. It is a profitable, bootstrapped-turned-founder-owned scaleup (~100-120 employees) with a second office in Long Beach, California, serving 100,000+ organizations such as Pearson, McGraw-Hill and the International Baccalaureate; in 2017 it acquired Design Science (creators of MathType) with backing from Inveready, and in 2024 founder Ramon Eixarch bought back the investors' stakes.
