Softonic is a global software and app discovery and distribution platform, offering downloads, reviews and recommendations for Windows, Android and Mac programs in 18 languages, with tens of millions of monthly users. Founded in Barcelona in 1997 by Tomás Diago (originally as "Shareware Intercom" within Grupo Intercom, becoming independent as Softonic in 2000), it is a mature, profitable consumer-internet business monetised largely through advertising rather than an early-stage venture startup. It is majority-owned by private investors following a 2013 growth-equity investment by Partners Group that valued it at ~€275m; CEO since 2021 is Fiona Garvey and the company employs ~90 people in Barcelona's 22@ district.
