Tuenti
Tuenti was a Spanish social network founded in Madrid in 2006 that became the dominant social platform among Spanish teenagers, reaching over 15 million registered users between 2009 and 2012. Telefónica acquired 85% of the company for €70M in August 2010 (100% by November 2013), after which Tuenti dropped its social features and pivoted to a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO). Tuenti is no longer an operating company: its Spanish mobile service was terminated on 1 June 2022 (contract customers migrated to O2, prepaid to Movistar), and the brand only lingers in some Latin American markets under Telefónica.
