Wuaki.tv no longer exists as an independent company: founded in Barcelona in 2009 as a video-on-demand platform, it was acquired by Japan's Rakuten Group in June 2012 and rebranded as Rakuten TV in July 2017. It operates a transactional and ad-supported streaming service (movie/TV rentals, purchases and free FAST channels) across roughly 40+ European countries. It is a corporate subsidiary rather than a fundable startup, is headquartered in Barcelona, and founder Jacinto Roca left the CEO role around 2022 (succeeded by Cedric Dufour) to co-found Titan OS; co-founder Josep Mitjà is now CEO of Latostadora.
