Comunitae was Spain's pioneering peer-to-peer (crowdlending) platform, founded in 2008-2009 by ex-BBVA banker Arturo Cervera, connecting individual lenders with small businesses and individual borrowers for short-term loans. It suspended all operations indefinitely in late 2017 after discovering an internal fraud involving forged promissory notes, and appears to be defunct/inactive as of 2026.
