NNostoc Biotech
Nostoc Biotech is a Spanish agri-biotech company that manufactures and sells live microbiological biofertilizers and bioprotectants derived from worm humus (vermicompost) and cyanobacteria such as Nostoc commune, produced in photobioreactors. Founded in 2014, it aims to replace chemical-heavy conventional farming with natural crop nutrition and protection, and claims productivity gains of up to ~33% while cutting fertilizer use; it was the first Spanish company to register microorganisms as fertilizers. It is impact-investor backed, having closed a €1.5M round in 2020 led by Fondo Bolsa Social with CDTI/Innvierte, French fund Investir&+ and Equity4Good (Ship2B), plus earlier equity-crowdfunding rounds on La Bolsa Social.
