Origo Biopharma — Seed · €2.3M
Announced 2020-07-07 · Barcelona · Biotech
Origo Biopharma closed a €2.3M Series Seed round led by Asabys Partners through its Sabadell Asabys Health Innovation Investments fund, with XesGalicia (the Xunta de Galicia venture arm) and the founding shareholders GalChimia and Julio Castro also participating. The money was to complete preclinical work and take its lead locally-acting TGF-beta inhibitor into first-in-patient studies in Crohn's disease-associated fibrosis, while advancing its idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and colorectal cancer programmes; earlier support had come from Galician public funding for the IO4COLON project (2018 Conecta-Peme programme) and a 2019 internal capital increase by the founding partners, neither of which was announced as a venture round. This remained the company's only announced financing: Agomab Therapeutics agreed to acquire Origo in October 2021 and closed the deal in December 2021.
