Chekin — Seed

Chekin's first institutional money came from Seville-based SouthUp Ventures, which disclosed on 6 July 2018 that the startup was one of five companies it had backed in its first twelve months (a combined €100K across the five), co-investing alongside Encomenda Smart Capital, the €20M fund run by Carlos Blanco and Oriol Juncosa; the amount for Chekin alone was never broken out. Around the same period the company was also awarded a €150K Minerva Programme grant (2018), which is public grant money rather than a venture round.
