Hiperbaric — Other · €1.2M

Announced 2018-04-19 · Burgos · Industrial deeptech

Asocia Inversión, the venture capital vehicle of Fundación Caja de Burgos, invested €1.2M in Hiperbaric as its first-ever investment, taking a minority stake in the Burgos high-pressure equipment maker. The investment was made alongside the April 2018 change of control in which founder-CEO Andrés Hernando exercised pre-emption rights and, backed by Alantra Private Equity (which took ~70%, later reported as 60%), bought Hiperbaric out of the Nicolás Correa group in a €135M transaction; that buyout is an M&A deal rather than a funding round and is not listed separately. Reported as a minority growth investment with no venture stage disclosed, hence 'Other'. Related non-round events: a ~$2.6M EU Horizon 2020 SME Instrument grant from EASME in 2016 (a grant, excluded), and a January 2023 secondary transaction in which Alantra sold most of its stake to the founding and management team (taking them to 55%) at a €267M valuation for 100%, with CDTI's Innvierte Economía Sostenible entering as a new shareholder alongside Fundación Caja de Burgos and the family offices of Ginés Clemente and Gerardo Gutiérrez — that was a purchase of existing shares with no capital increase, so it is not counted as a round.
