In June 2022 airCO2, then operating as AirCO2 Fintech, closed its first investment round. Portugal's Mota-Engil Group led it, with DraperB1, Back Fund, José Togores Mahou (president of Avalon Wealth Management), the companies Reciclajes Plásticos and Cordoplas, and business angels Luis Taboada (Qbitia) and David Conde (Coinscrap Finance) also taking part. The press called the €700K the company's starting capital. Two later items are not funding rounds for airCO2: in 2024 Mota-Engil set up the separate company AirCO2 Portugal, and a January 2026 press piece only hinted at unnamed 'strategic operations' with no closed round reported.
