LLeukos Biotech — Seed (estimated) · €3.5M
Leukos Biotech's first funding round was €3.5M, led by Inveready. The company is a spin-out of the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute, and the money was to take its lead drug for acute myeloid leukaemia (LB-208, a treatment that targets leukaemia stem cells) into the clinic. Inveready's biotech fund co-invests with CDTI's Innvierte programme, and the Josep Carreras Foundation stayed on as a shareholder. Crunchbase dates the round 21–22 September 2016, and Biocat covered it on 27 September 2016. Grants and public loans are not counted as rounds: Spain's economy ministry grant RTC-2016-5205-1, CDTI NEOTEC, the EU Horizon 2020 SeroStrat grant (No. 815582), ACCIÓ support, and a €1.4M grant/loan in November 2022 for LB208 mechanism-of-action work and an exploratory trial.
