Platanomelón's first outside funding round was an equity crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube called 'Tocando los… tabúes'. It was approved on 2 August 2022, opened around 10 August with a €150K minimum and no maximum, and closed on 29 August 2022. CB Insights puts the amount raised at about $0.38M, and Crowdcube lists the round as 'raised investment – August 2022'. The money was meant for Latin American expansion, R&D, sexology and outreach, and a documentary. Earlier backers include co-founder Antai Venture Builder, Sabadell Venture Capital and the venture-debt fund Extension Fund, but none of those investments was ever announced as a round with a date or amount. The company has also been an ENISA borrower, a public loan that is not listed as a round.
