SScale Gas
Scale Gas is a Madrid-based venture spun out of Enagás in 2017 through Enagás Emprende, the gas grid operator's corporate entrepreneurship and open-innovation programme, to invest in, build, operate and maintain small- and medium-scale LNG infrastructure — bunkering vessels, LNG fuelling stations and small-scale terminals — for maritime and road transport and for remote areas off the gas grid. It signed partnerships such as the LNG bunkering agreement with Italy's Edison in the Mediterranean and drove Spain's first LNG supply vessel. In July 2025 Scale Gas merged with sister Enagás venture E4Efficiency to form Scale Green Energy, a wholly owned Enagás subsidiary covering CO2 infrastructure, bio-LNG bunkering, green hydrogen refuelling and renewable ammonia, so the firm today trades under that name; it is a corporate subsidiary rather than a VC-backed startup.
