Civitatis is a Madrid-based online marketplace for booking guided tours, excursions, day trips and activities, and is the leading curated tours-and-activities platform for Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking travellers. Founded in 2008 and bootstrapped profitably for its first 14 years, it now offers 97,000+ activities in 4,270+ destinations across some 160 countries and has served over 30 million customers, with roughly 360 employees. Growth investor Vitruvian Partners took a stake in April 2022 (~€100M deal) and increased it with a further ~$50M in June 2024; founder Alberto Gutiérrez handed the CEO role to Andrés Spitzer effective 1 January 2026 and remains on the board. It is a late-stage, cash-flow-positive scaleup backed by growth equity rather than a classic VC-series company.
