Routal, formerly SmartMonkey, is a Barcelona-based logistics software company that provides an AI-powered delivery management platform for last-mile operations run with owned or subcontracted fleets. Its SaaS offering combines Routal Planner, a web platform for multi-stop route optimisation, planning and analytics, with Routal Drivers, a mobile app for driver navigation, proof of delivery and live tracking. The company serves more than 1,000 clients in 32 countries, including Volkswagen, Grupo Agbar, Nacex and Quaker State in Mexico, and has a strong presence in Spain and Latin America. Founded in Barcelona in 2015 by Xavier Ruiz, the company raised a €425,000 seed round in 2021 from business angels with the support of EIT InnoEnergy, followed in May 2024 by a €1 million round with H Capital and EIT InnoEnergy to expand in Latin America and develop AI features for last-mile delivery.
