NEOS Surgery
NEOS Surgery is a Barcelona-based medical device company that develops, manufactures and sells surgical implants for neurosurgery, spine and cardiothoracic surgery. Its products include Cranial LOOP, the first cranial bone flap fixation device made entirely of PEEK, the Cranial COVER burr hole cover and the STERN FIX carbon fibre sternal stabilisation system. It also has a pipeline that includes DISC care, a treatment for herniated lumbar discs. It was founded in October 2003 as a spin-off of the Eurecat and Tecnalia technology centres together with neurosurgeons. It sells through distribution partners in more than 25 markets across Europe, the Americas, Asia, the Middle East and Africa, and reported €1.5 million in revenue in 2019. In 2020 it closed a €5 million operation of equity and debt, with the Catalan public investment company Avançsa joining its shareholders alongside the strategic partner Jiadel Medical. It has also received EU non-dilutive funding from the European Innovation Council and Horizon 2020.
