Durcal, formerly Safe365, is a Barcelona-based company that provides telecare for older people and their families. Its product is a GPS smartwatch with a built-in SIM, fall detection and an SOS button. The watch connects to a free family app that shows the wearer's location, vital signs and medication reminders, and a 24/7 alarm centre coordinates the emergency services. Customers pay a monthly subscription, and the service is also distributed through Movistar Prosegur Alarmas. The company began in Andorra in 2012 as Alpify, a safety app for people doing risk sports. It then became Safe365, a family-safety app, before turning to eldercare in September 2020. Its apps have passed 9 million downloads, and more than 11,000 people wear the watch. Durcal has raised a €2M round led by Mangrove Capital Partners, with Didac Lee and Atresmedia taking part. In May 2022 it raised an €8M Series A led by Telefónica Ventures, joined by Mangrove, Kfund, Prosegur Tech Ventures, Aldea Ventures and Atresmedia. In 2026 it entered Italy by acquiring a Rome-based telecare technology company.
