CColibri Biomed
Colibri Biomed is a Valencia-based medtech company developing a fully automated closed-loop insulin delivery system, an artificial pancreas, for people with type 1 diabetes. Its proprietary insulin pump runs a patented control algorithm that adjusts insulin doses in real time from continuous glucose monitor readings, with no carbohydrate counting or meal and exercise announcements needed. The pump also carries a proprietary safety sensor that detects occlusions and flow anomalies. The company was founded in 2025 as a spin-off of the Universitat Politècnica de València's ai2 Institute, building on more than 25 years of research and on the EIC Transition-funded Prisma project. It received pre-seed backing from the Italian venture builder Day One and is working towards clinical validation and CE marking as a Class III medical device.
