Biyiud is a Barcelona-based climate-tech start-up founded in 2021 that runs a digital platform that measures, rewards and connects sustainable production and consumption, mainly of electricity. Its EcoRating system uses smart-meter data to calculate carbon footprints in real time, gives personalised recommendations to cut them, and turns sustainable behaviour into accumulative points (Biyiuds) and an eco-reputation rating for citizens, businesses and municipalities. Its model and Ranking of Conscious Cities have been taken up in Viladecans through the local Vilawatt currency, as well as in Barcelona and Catalonia through the Green Commerce certification. The company has been backed by the EmprenUPC programme, EIT InnoEnergy, EIT Climate-KIC, ACCIÓ, Ship2B Foundation and Google for Startups, and by public grants from NextGenerationEU.
