WWe Are Knitters
We Are Knitters is a Madrid-founded direct-to-consumer e-commerce brand selling hand-knitting and crochet kits, natural-fibre yarns, needles and free video tutorials, with roughly 90-94% of sales outside Spain (Germany, France, US). Founded in 2011 by ex-PwC consultants Pepita Marín and Alberto Bravo, it grew to ~30 staff and over €10-15M in annual revenue and was one of Spain's best-known bootstrapped/angel-backed consumer startups. The company filed for voluntary insolvency (concurso de acreedores) in May 2025 via a 'prepack' and its productive unit was acquired in June 2025 by digital-brand group Caracas Lab for ~€914K (11 of 14 contracts subrogated); the original entity went to liquidation. The webshop remains operational under the new owner, so this is no longer an independent venture-backed startup.
