CartoDB, a spin-off of Madrid's Vizzuality, raised an $8M Series A led by Earlybird, with existing investors Kibo Ventures and Vitamina K. It was the company's first big round and made New York its headquarters, with the team kept in Madrid. The press called Kibo and Vitamina K existing investors, but no earlier seed round was ever announced with an amount or date.
