Catalan insect-farming (black soldier fly) biotech Phoenix Foods, founded in 2023 as Finmanflies, closed a €347,000 round led by EconomistesBAN, the business angels network of the Col·legi d'Economistes de Catalunya, with public co-investment from ACCIÓ's Startup Capital programme. The operation was completed with an additional ENISA loan from Spain's Ministry of Industry and Tourism, and the money goes to R&D and expanding production and commercial capacity.
