Cocoon Bioscience — Series A · €15M

Cocoon Bioscience, an Algenex spin-out that uses cocooned insects as natural bioreactors to make specialty enzymes and growth factors for mRNA synthesis, sequencing and cultivated meat, closed a €15 million round (~$16M). The company's release names Columbus Venture Partners and Cleon Capital as co-leads while Spanish trade press credits Viscofan and Cleon; Viscofan, North South Ventures and former Algenex shareholders also invested, funding scale-up of its Basque Country (Derio/Zamudio) plant.
