The Blue Box (legally The Blue Box Biomedical Solutions, S.L.) is a Barcelona-based medtech startup building a pain-free, radiation-free breast cancer screening device that analyses volatile organic compounds in a urine sample using proprietary AI algorithms, sold as a diagnostics-as-a-service model to gynaecology clinics. The company reports ~88% sensitivity in its research to date, has run studies with 7 hospitals and 450+ women, and is using its July 2025 €3M seed round to fund clinical trials across seven European hospitals targeting CE marking by end of 2026. Founder Judit Giró Benet won the international James Dyson Award for the technology, and the company has been covered by BBC News, TechCrunch, The Guardian and Vogue. It also has a US presence in Menlo Park.
