Ficosterra
Ficosterra is a Spanish marine biotechnology company, spun off in 2016 from algae-processing firm Hispanagar, that manufactures biostimulants, biofertilizers and biological soil activators derived from Atlantic and Pacific seaweed extracts. Its products serve organic and conventional agriculture (horticulture, cereals, citrus, legumes) as well as sports turf. The company has won multiple innovation awards and grants (including a ~€1.1M European Innovation Council grant in 2023) and was seeking around €4M in equity funding as of 2024.
