Sea Eight
Sea Eight is a Spanish-Portuguese aquaculture company that farms sole (Solea senegalensis/Solea solea) on land using Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) technology, positioning itself among the world's three largest sole producers. It operates a hatchery in Póvoa de Varzim and a farm in Torreira/Murtosa (Portugal) plus grow-out sites in Cambados (Galicia) and a new plant at El Musel port in Gijón (Asturias), and supplies retailers including Mercadona. It is a private-equity-backed food producer, majority-controlled by Valencian family investment group Atitlan; in 2026 it announced the €170M 'Basordas' project with the Basque Government to build Europe's largest sole farm at the former Lemoiz nuclear site.
