Wannalisn is a Madrid-based edtech company behind a mobile app that teaches English (and Spanish) through short clips from movies, TV series and songs, training listening, pronunciation and vocabulary using an 'edutainment' and gamified approach with speech-recognition technology. Founded around 2019-2020, it raised roughly €400K in total, including a €260K round led by Spanish language-training group ASTEX, and reached over 500,000 users across ~190 countries. ASTEX fully acquired Wannalisn in 2024, so the company operates as part of ASTEX rather than as an independent startup.
