Kalma
Kalma is a Barcelona-based company that helps homeowners, mainly people over 65, turn the value of their home into cash while continuing to live in it. It arranges bare-ownership (nuda propiedad) sales, lifetime annuities and sale-and-rent-back deals, matching senior owners with property investors who buy the bare ownership while the seller keeps a lifetime right to live in the home. It has also offered intergenerational room rental, and it runs transactions in Barcelona and Madrid. Kalma was founded in 2023 by fintech entrepreneur Carlos Hernández, and in November 2023 it closed a €1 million first round backed by Spanish entrepreneurs, including Marc Antoni Maciá, who chairs its board.
