WalletConnect builds blockchain connectivity and payments infrastructure, including the WalletConnect Network, an open standard that connects crypto wallets to decentralised applications, and WalletConnect Pay, a crypto and stablecoin payments product. Its customers include financial institutions, payment service providers, fintechs and neobanks, retail and institutional wallets, DeFi platforms, gaming platforms and blockchain foundations. It reports more than 35 million users worldwide and over 20 million monthly wallet connections. Pedro Gomes founded the company in 2018, and it operated as Reown for a period. It has raised about $38 million: a $1.25 million seed round in 2021; an $11 million Series A in 2022 led by Union Square Ventures and 1kx; a $12.5 million ecosystem round in November 2022 with Shopify, Coinbase Ventures, ConsenSys and Circle Ventures; and a $13 million Series B in January 2025 led by Union Square Ventures and 1kx with Shopify Ventures, Kraken Ventures and Crypto.com Capital.
