Biomass Booster

Biomass Booster is a Logroño-based plant biotechnology company working in functional genomics and proteomics, with the aim of raising biomass productivity in plants and algae. Its technology platform is built on the patented gene BMB-707, which has increased biomass output by 23% to 60% depending on the species tested, including tobacco plants. The company licenses and exploits its intellectual property in plant biotechnology for sectors that depend on biomass, where it tackles the low productivity of land crops and the high cost of growing algae. Founded in 2008 in La Rioja, it is a founding member of the Grupo BioRioja biotechnology association and raised a venture round in February 2021.
