Melio

Melio was a Madrid-based healthtech company that sold blood tests directly to consumers through an online platform. Customers could order tests without a prescription and got results within 48 hours, with comments from a medical team. It offered more than ten test profiles covering over 100 health markers, such as hormones, cholesterol, glucose, PSA and iron, and it also sold Covid-19 PCR tests to travellers through UK high-street pharmacies. Its laboratory partner was Unilabs. The company was founded in the United Kingdom in March 2019 and launched in Madrid in October 2019. It operated in UK cities including London, Manchester, Bristol and Cambridge, and in Spain it expanded from Madrid and Barcelona to Valencia, Seville, Bilbao, Málaga, Zaragoza and other cities. Melio raised a €600,000 seed round led by UK healthcare and consumer investors, including Oxford-based Beaumont Capital and angel investor Gi Fernando. The service shut down on 31 March 2024.
