AAiMA
AiMA (AiMA Beyond AI) is a Barcelona-based healthtech start-up building an empathetic digital human: a virtual companion on a tablet, phone or TV that uses voice, vision and emotional intelligence to keep older people company and to fight unwanted loneliness. The assistant remembers past conversations, names and faces, tracks whether users take their medication, spots signs of disorientation and connects users with family and care professionals. It runs on edge AI for privacy and is sold B2B to public administrations, health systems, hospitals and care homes on a SaaS and licence model. AiMA was founded in Barcelona in 2023 by Álex Izquierdo and Carlos Kik, ran a pilot with older users, received public innovation support and won the Health Prize at the CZFB's BNEW 2025 awards.
