Capillary.io is a Zaragoza-based healthtech company that builds AI software for nailfold capillaroscopy. Its web-based SaaS platform detects, measures and classifies capillaries and haemorrhages in microscope images, and produces structured diagnostic reports. Doctors and researchers use it to diagnose and monitor autoimmune and rheumatic diseases such as scleroderma, Raynaud's phenomenon and lupus. It works with Dino-Lite, Inspectis and Optilia microscopes and has a companion mobile app, Capillaryscope. The platform was developed with the Spanish Society of Internal Medicine (SEMI) and its GEAS autoimmune diseases group, and it has also worked with SEMAIS and Boehringer Ingelheim. Internist Borja Gracia and software engineer Eduardo Ramos started the project in late 2017 and launched it publicly in 2020. The company is bootstrapped, with public innovation grants from NextGenerationEU, Spain's digital transformation ministry and the Government of Aragon.
