H2 Dron Energy designs and builds hydrogen fuel-cell power systems for electric drones with a maximum take-off weight of up to 25 kg. Its compact hybrid module combines a hydrogen fuel cell with Li-Po batteries that cover peak loads such as take-off, and it is recharged by swapping the hydrogen cylinder. The company says this roughly doubles or triples flight time and mission range compared with battery-only drones, which matters to operators doing surveying, inspection and mapping. Founded in 2019 in As Pontes (A Coruña, Galicia), it went through the Business Factory Aero incubation programme, received backing from EIT Urban Mobility, and won a CDTI NEOTEC grant in the 2020 call.
