SSkydweller Aero
Skydweller Aero is a US-Spanish aerospace company developing uncrewed, solar-powered autonomous aircraft designed for perpetual flight while carrying heavy payloads. The aircraft is intended as a persistent airborne platform for defence, security, surveillance and telecommunications missions, and is built on the Solar Impulse 2 airframe, which flew around the world in 2016. The company was founded in 2017 by Robert Miller and John Parkes. It is headquartered in Oklahoma City, has more than 80 engineers in Madrid (Alcobendas), and flight-tests in Albacete, where it has demonstrated autonomous solar flight. In 2025 the US Navy's Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division awarded it an SBIR Phase I contract with Nokia Federal Solutions. Skydweller raised a $40 million Series A led by Leonardo, Marlinspike Capital and Advection Growth Capital, with Palantir joining as an investor and AI partner. In December 2023 the European Investment Bank lent it €30 million under InvestEU to fund development and production.
