Captoplastic is a Madrid-based deep-tech startup, spun off in 2020 from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), that develops patented technology to detect, quantify and remove microplastics from water in wastewater treatment plants, drinking water facilities, textile dyeing operations, and plastics-industry effluent. It has scaled its filtration technology from lab scale to industrial plants treating over a million liters per hour, and has won several innovation awards (Fundación Everis eAwards 2021, EmprendeXXI, Sustainability Actions 2025 Best Startup).
