SSqrups
Sqrups is a Spanish chain of urban outlet supermarkets founded in 2014 in Madrid that buys and resells branded consumer goods sourced from manufacturing surpluses, short-dated stock, packaging changes, clearances and insurance salvage, at discounts of roughly 50-80%. It operates a mixed franchise/own-store model with more than 120-140 stores across Spain, 350+ employees and revenue of ~€29.5M in 2025 (+34% YoY), positioning itself around circular-economy and social-inclusion impact. It is not a classic venture-backed startup: its main institutional backer is impact fund manager Global Social Impact Investments, which took a minority stake (~40%) with ~€3M committed from 2022 plus a €1.5M reinvestment; earlier capital came via an equity crowdfunding round on Fellow Funders.
