Bihar Batteries is a Spanish deep-tech startup, founded in 2023 in Donostia-San Sebastián (Basque Country), that designs and manufactures sodium-ion batteries for stationary energy storage, targeting commercial and industrial customers. Its cells use abundant, non-critical raw materials (sodium from seawater, hard carbon from wood) developed with research center CIC energiGUNE, and the company is targeting commercialization in 2026 with a pilot cell manufacturing line planned for 2027 in Gipuzkoa.
