Optimized Battery Systems (trading as OBS Systems, legally OBS SYSTEMS S.L. / Optimized Battery Systems S.L.) designs and manufactures Battery Management Systems (BMS) — BMU, CMU and PMU units measuring State of Charge and State of Health up to 1,500V — for electric mobility, off-highway machinery and stationary renewable-energy storage. It is a corporate spin-off created by the Basque automotive cooperative MAIER, with the technology centre CIDETEC (MAIER's technology partner for over 20 years) as shareholder and technology partner; it is listed among CIDETEC Energy Storage's spin-offs alongside CIDEcell, LANZO Batteries and KUDEBATT. The company claims 15+ years of BMS experience, holds ISO 9001 and achieved ISO 26262 ASIL C certification for its HD-BMS-1000. It is headquartered in Gernika-Lumo (Bizkaia, Basque Country) and is a small deeptech hardware firm (~8 employees) rather than a VC-backed startup.
