Openchip (Openchip & Software Technologies S.L.) is a Barcelona-based European semiconductor company designing high-performance RISC-V based accelerators, systems-on-chip and full-stack software for AI and high-performance computing. Founded in 2021 as an initiative of Catalan engineering group GTD and the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS), it is positioned as a European technological-sovereignty champion, selected by the European Commission as an IPCEI project and backed by Spain's Recovery Plan. It has raised over €200M in largely public/strategic capital — including €115.7M from Spain's SETT in June 2026 for a 16.5% stake — and partners with NEC, BSC and imec.
